We Made It Out Alive!

Well despite the best intentions of the return of the Bubonic Plague, we have all made it to the other side alive!

The fact that the Social One seemed to have a wonderful time on her New Zealand trip, but brought back a killer flu, has only soured me a little on the idea of visiting the land of the Lord of the Rings. But if you'd asked me a week ago, well that might have been another story altogether......

Here she is, soaking up the snow and sun on a mountain somewhere.  Just before our self imposed quarantine, we also had Penelope Wonderwoman's 2nd birthday! We celebrated it rather quietly, although she did seem to keep getting presents and cake every few days.....

Yeah, so I'm not going to win any best parent awards for putting these photos up, but I never get to see all five of them together anymore! There is always someone not here. So I'll take the chance when I can to have photos of them together, pyjamas and all!

My Mum came over for a very quick visit and spent a few very lovely days with the children, minus of course the Social One who was still in the snow.

Then school went back and the house went to the dogs...

Emerging on the other side, we spent the day last Friday at Curtin University watching the Little Dude participate in a RoboCup! He and his team had to design and build a Lego robot, then program, or code it using a computer. The idea was that they had a certain area of floor space and they had to make sure the robot utilised that space without going out of bounds. They mostly met the brief, really not bad for a few 10 year olds!

It was even on the news!

And so now it's back to normal, with school and work, and getting stuff done. But lingering on the horizon is the imminent 18th birthday for the Eldest One. Come September 1st, she will officially (at least in the eyes of the Australian law), be an adult. I am trying to not think about it too much, as I can vividly recall being 18, it kind of feels like it was just yesterday.... It's a very bizarre feeling actually.....

And then the following month Miss Penelope and I get to take two trips in the space of a couple of weeks! I am taking her to Victoria to see my Daddy for a few days during the next school holidays, and only a couple of weeks after we return from there, our USA Halloween trip will be upon us!! I have a list of things the older girls would like (to make up for not bringing them along of course!), and we have booked all of our tickets and even airport car parking! We have yet to decide on Halloween costumes though, so perhaps I should get a wriggle on with that!!

So just to finish off, here are some photos of Miss P this morning; it's been pretty wild and woolly here today, and the rain stopped for a little bit so she decided to don hat and boots and go outside to play. She is just way too cute.
